I recently started a new blog to try out some SEO methods for generating more traffic.
The experiment is still underway but I wanted to share a difficulty I had. And I wanted to find a for ‘How To Set Favicon on WordPress Twenty Twenty-Four Theme’.
I couldn’t find where to change the favicon icon for my WordPress site whilst it was using the Twenty Twenty-Four theme.
After some Googling, I found 2 methods. I followed the second one as the first one didn’t actually work for me. I think it’s something to do with the WordPress site being self hosted and not on the WordPress hosting.
So here we go!
How To Set Favicon on WordPress Twenty Twenty-Four Theme
Method 1
1
Head over to the Site Logo block and click on the Settings icon to open the settings side bar
2
Click the Site Icon Settings button that opens the WordPress customization view
3
In the Site Icon section, click on the Select Site Icon button and make sure to either upload or select your own media
4
Publish your changes and you’re done!

Method 2
As mentioned above, Method 1 didn’t work for me as I couldn’t find the links in the GUI. Use these steps below is you’re in the same boat!
1
Enter the below URL into your web browser’s URL bar:
example.com/wp-admin/customize.php?autofocus[section]=title_tagline
Make sure to replace ‘example.com’ with your actual site
2
Now go into the Site Icon Settings and select Site Icon
3
Here, you can upload or select your own media from your WordPress media library
4
Publish the changes and you’re done!
Hopefully, this helps you as I couldn’t find the settings in the default viewer at all!
Enjoy! 🎉
Exactly what I was looking for. Thank you?
Glad it helped you!
Thank you!!! You’ve saved my sanity!
But I have to ask: Why was it so hard? Surely there must be an easier way. But where?
I find it difficult to believe that a major release like Twenty Twenty-Four would foul up with a basic setting like this.
If there wasn’t an “easy” path (that has eluded us both) I would have thought that this would be all over Google. But it appears not to be. Or doesn’t anyone set their favicon any more?
I had to use v2 too. There was simply no entry “Site Icon Settings” for me when I went through v1.
But thanks again.
A very, very useful post.
Bill
Tell me about it Bill! Seems like a huge think to miss – the amount of local businesses that I reach out to because of this (among other issues with their website) and they just don’t care, truly bothers me. Happy this was useful for you!
